FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Spain vs Colombia Final Schedule, Date, Time, Venue, Journey to Final, & Other Details
After first semi-final between Nigeria and Colombia ended 0-0 after regular time, the game went to penalty shootout. During shootout, Nigeria lost 5-6 against Colombia, which allowed the South American country to qualify for final. Meanwhile, Nigeria will be hoping to finish on high note by winning third-place play-off on Sunday. To guarantee their passage to the FIFA U-17 World Cup final, Spain scored in the final minute of regulation time to win 1-0 against Germany. For Spain, super-sub Lucia Corrales score the much-needed winning goal. With this victory, Spain were also able to avenge their UEFA U-17 Championships final loss against Germany.
Following these results, Spain will face Colombia in Sunday’s final, which will be played at DY Patil Stadium of Navi Mumbai. Earlier on Sunday, Nigeria will face Germany as both teams will look to return home with podium finish. During their group stage clash, Spain defeated Colombia thanks to 85th minute strike by Amezaga and hence, Spain will be eager to replicate this result and lift this prestigious trophy.
On their path to final, Spain finished second in their group, which forced them to face in-form Japan in quarterfinal. However, Spain overcame Japan 2-1 before eliminating rivals Germany from semi-final stage with 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Colombia dispatched Tanzania in quarterfinal via score of 3-0 but struggled against Nigeria in semi-final before squeezing out 6-5 shootout win.
