Michael Cline who was the man behind the movie ticket company Fandango died on Tuesday after apparently taking his own life by falling from a five-star hotel in New York City.
Tuesday morning, J. Michael Cline, 64, of Palm Beach, Florida, was discovered to be “unconscious and unresponsive.”
He leapt from the 20th floor of the Kimberly Hotel in Manhattan, landing on the third-floor courtyard.

New York City police were summoned to The Kimberly Hotel, located at 145 East 50th Street in Manhattan. There, they discovered Cline suffering from injuries “indicative of a fall from an elevated position,” according to the police. The time of his death was 10:30 with him committing suicide.
64 year old J Michael Cline was an entrepreneur by trade. He quit quit his company Fandango in 2011 after founding it in 2000. NBC Universal, NBC News’ parent company, currently owns the business.
Until 2017, he served as chairman and director of Acumen which is a company he founded in 2010 that provides large hospitals with lab operations outsourcing. From 2007 until 2022, he served as the chairman and creator of Accolade, a health services supplier for large corporations and hospital systems.
In addition, he developed Accretive and held the position of managing partner for this start-up funding company. Accretive has been contacted by NBC News for a statement. Cline presided over the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

James Michael Cline was born in New York City on November 13, 1959. His father, James G. Cline, was a managing partner at the environmental engineering company Dames & Moore, while his mother, Rose Marie Cline, worked as a division administrator at the Lamont Doherty Geological Observatory at Columbia University.
According to his LinkedIn page, J. Michael Cline attended Cornell University and Harvard Business School. His MBA was awarded to him in 1985.
Cline married Pamela, according to a 1995 New York Times wedding announcement. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the couple’s combined family count was six children.
Cline’s two marriages shaped his personal existence. He had celebrated over thirty years of marriage to Dartmouth College alumna Pamela Cline at the time of his passing. While his religion affiliation isn’t officially known, the surname Cline is associated with either Jewish or Christian people.
