Director Sanjay Gadhvi, known for the movie Dhoom, passed away at his home in Mumbai on Sunday. He was 56 and just a few days away from his 57th birthday. Sanjay Gadhvi directed the popular film Dhoom in 2004, featuring Hrithik Roshan, and its sequel Dhoom 2 in 2006. Yash Raj Films, Abhishek Bachchan, and Bipasha Basu expressed their condolences on social media, remembering him fondly.

Sanjay Gadhvi was born on 22 November 1965 to Manubhai Gadhvi. He was married to Gina.
Sanjay Gadhvi’s daughter, Sanjina revealed, “He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his home. We’re not sure, but it seems like it was a heart attack. He was not sick; he was completely healthy.” He leaves behind his wife, Gina, and two daughters with Sanjina being the older one.
Abhishek Bachchan who acted in all three Dhoom movies, shared his sadness on Instagram about Sanjay Gadhvi’s passing. He posted a photo they took during the filming of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. Abhishek mentioned they made two films together and expressed shock at having to write about Sanjay’s death, especially after their recent conversation reminiscing about their shoots and memories. It’s a heartfelt tribute to their collaboration and friendship.
“You gave me my first big success! I can’t put into words what that meant to me. I’ll always treasure our friendship. Rest in peace, my brother,” Abhishek Bachchan wrote, expressing deep sorrow and gratitude for the support and friendship Sanjay Gadhvi provided.

Dhoom music composer Pritam expressed his disbelief on X, saying, “I just can’t process this news about Sanjay. All the noise around me has just muffled. I’ve lost the mentor, the man who found me, and believed in me.” Pritam credited Sanjay for his breakthrough film, Mere Yaar Ki Shadi Hai. Despite the shock, Pritam is set to perform at the ICC World Cup finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
