The series revolves around the lives of two individuals: Bong Ye-boon (played by Han Ji-min), a compassionate veterinarian with psychic abilities that allow her to glimpse a person or animal’s past when she touches their rear end, and Detective Moon Jang-yeol (played by Lee Min-ki), a gruff officer demoted to the rural village of Mujin due to his explosive temper in Seoul.

Their paths cross, leading them to work together on various cases. Their world takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of Kim Sun-woo (Suho) in Mujin, who initially appears kind and polite but harbors dark mysteries.

Netflix describes the series as follows: “A psychic vet and a detective team up to solve small-town mysteries, but their skills are put to the test when they uncover a chilling serial killer mystery.” As Moon Jang-yeol and Bong Ye-boon delve into a deadly crime case, they remain oblivious to the lurking presence of a serial killer.

Recap

Disturbed by Gwang-sik’s final words, Jang-yeol becomes convinced that the killer experiences blackout episodes. He warns Ye-boon to stay away from Sun-woo. However, she decides to meet Sun-woo and shares information about the killer possibly possessing psychic abilities, triggering something in Sun-woo’s mind.

Jang-yeol and his team attempt to replicate the killer’s blackout technique but fail miserably, realizing that the killer’s skills have improved. Frustrated with the local authorities, Jang-yeol takes it upon himself to handle the case. Meanwhile, Ye-boon and Sun-woo grow closer, creating tension between them and Jang-yeol, who suggests she should date Sun-woo instead.

Expectations

As Jang-yeol confronts Sun-woo’s lifeless body, his suspicions intensify, leaving Ye-boon to distance herself and cope with the loss of those she cared about, including her grandfather, Gwang-sik, and now Sun-woo. Sun-woo’s death becomes a haunting presence for Jang-yeol, propelling him to accelerate his mission to unmask the serial killer.

With Ye-boon no longer assisting him, Jang-yeol delves into various blackout techniques to uncover the culprit’s identity. There are strong indications that the Shaman may be the serial killer, given his potential blackout symptoms. However, Cha’s assistant also emerges as a potential suspect. Ye-boon is poised to be the first to identify the serial killer, placing her in grave danger, with Jang-yeol determined to rescue her at all costs.
