As Jorge Mendes landed in Turin and held talks with the Juventus board and Ronaldo, it looked like City had all but sealed his services. With a string of outlets reporting the two parties had agreed personal terms, Manchester United supporters went up in arms at the though of their legend playing for their rivals.
