Bhavika Mangalanandan attacked the Pakistani Prime Minister harshly for bringing up the subject of Jammu and Kashmir in his speech during the General Debate of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, calling it “hypocrisy at its worst.”

“A country run by the military, with a global reputation for terrorism, narcotics trade, and transnational crime, has the audacity to attack the world’s largest democracy… The truth is that Pakistan covets our territory and has continuously used terrorism to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an inalienable and integral part of India,” said Mangalanandan.

On Friday, Bhavika Mangalanandan criticized Pakistan’s “hypocrisy” for politicising Kashmir and casting Assembly (UNGA). In a forceful refutation of claims made by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, the Indian envoy emphasized that Pakistan had employed ‘terrorism to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir’.

The 2008 Mumbai assaults and the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament were mentioned by the Indian diplomat.

In his speech, which lasted over 20 minutes, Sharif addressed the Jammu and Kashmir issue, referring to the revocation of Article 370 and Hizbul militant Burhan Wani. During his address at the UNGA, the Pakistani leader drew a comparison between the situations in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, stating that both have fought for their freedom and right to self-determination for a century.

Sharif further charged that India has abandoned its obligations under the Security Council’s resolutions over Jammu and Kashmir.
